FREEMAN HAS EVENTFUL DAY WITH NEW TEAM AT NEW HAMPSHIRE

John Freeman’s debut weekend in the FitzBradshaw #22 Dodge didn’t quite go the way that he would have liked.  The 19-year-old finished 17th in the NASCAR Busch East Series event at New Hampshire International Speedway on Saturday afternoon.
To get there, he had to deal with qualifying getting rained out (which left his new team with a start of 44th after the field was set by owner points), an incident on the track, a rash of yellow fever on the racetrack and a case of some other type of fever effecting himself.

“It was a tough weekend,” said Freeman.  “We had a really good car.  All the guys worked hard to put together a good piece for me.  Unfortunately, we had to start 44th and we ended up trying to make it through the mess.  Everyone was driving three or four wide.  It was crazy.  It was pretty exciting.  We got into an incident about mid-way through after pit stops and that damaged the nose pretty good.  We lost a lap in the pits trying to fix everything.  We were able to get our lap back and get by half the field.

“I wasn’t feeling well today either.  I got an IV before the race. I went to the care center and they pumped me full of a liter of fluid to get me full of some electrolytes.  I felt good for about the fist 50 laps or so, then I started wearing back down after that.  I have been under the weather and it has been a challenge, but I think we’ve got some of the best stuff out here.

“It wasn’t a bad day all in all, but we had a car that was good enough to win, that is for sure.  This is just an incredibly fast car.  I know these guys will put it back together for us and we’ll have it at Dover and we’ll be just as good there I’m sure.  I’m excited about racing there for the first time.  I think that it is going to be an exciting race and I can’t wait to go there and try and get the result that we are capable of getting.”

The NASCAR Busch East Series event at Dover, is scheduled for 4:00pm on Friday, September 22nd.  The race will be televised live on HDNet television.
