After a three week gap in the NASCAR Busch East Series schedule, John Freeman is ready to roll into action for this Saturday’s race at Waterford Speedbowl (CT). It will be another new track for the rookie driver of the #5 entry.
I’m looking forward to getting back in the racecar,” said Freeman. “I’ve never seen the track and it will be interesting to go there. I’ve heard that it is a fun little bullring.”
Although Busch East has been on a break, Freeman has not been on summer vacation. In fact, he has been busy honing his road racing skills with the season finale at Lime Rock Park on his mind.
“I went out to the Skip Barber Driving School and got to run some of their open wheeled cars,” said Freeman. “I’m trying to familiarize myself with road racing for when the Busch East Series goes to Lime Rock, but it should also help me do better at other tracks. They break it down into the basics of racecar driving. They put into words the things that you take for granted as a racecar driver.”
Freeman will race on Saturday, August 19th, in the 150 lap NASCAR Busch East Series event at Waterford Speedbowl.
“The lights went off on the pace car and we had a right rear tire go flat. That is number four in a row when it comes to bad luck for us.”
Overall though, the young driver was excited about what he was able to accomplish at Thompson.
“This was my first time stepping foot here,” said Freeman. “It was fun to be able to mix it up with the Mike Olsens and the Mike Johnsons out there. I just wish that we could have been there for the end.”
